| This beautiful Luminaire accent lamp features two works by David Delamare. Their use has been licensed with David Delamare. One is " Mermaid and the Moon " showing a Mermaid relaxing on the bottom of a Crescent Moon. The other is called " Music of the Spheres " showing a Mermaid sitting on a Crescent Moon serenading the world with a Lyre. Each panel is repeated on the opposite side of the lamp. The Luminaire lamp has four large Lithophane panels decorating this Asian influenced accent lamp in a matte black powder coated finish. Each panel is 5 1/2" X 11 1/8". This is a very versatile lamp. It can be placed low (on a nightstand) or high (on a bookshelf) and still look great. A 60W bulb and a in-line switch on a 6 ft. cord are included. The lamp is 13 1/4 inches tall. First invented in France in 1827, a LITHOPHANE ("Vision In Stone") is a porcelain engraving that virtually comes alive when illuminated from behind. The image is created by a panel of different thicknesses of translucent, kiln-fired porcelain. A breathtakingly detailed picture in warm sepia tones emerge when lit. These illuminated artworks are so detailed, that they are sometimes mistaken for photographs. |
